The Aurora Colony Church: ... a
lost treasure. The Old Colony church was priceless to these communal
minded colonists. This land mark, with its grand bell tower and well
proportioned nave stood on a rise well north of the Master's house.
Build in 1864 - 66,, dedicated in the spring of 1867, sold in 1911 for
$200, and wrecked for its lumber. |

"Das Gros Hous" - The
Master's House: The home of Dr. Wm. Keil built of sash sawed local
material in 1858 - 1860. It was a popular gathering place till the more centrally
located hall-supply store was built. The Master's House was destroyed by
fire September of 1906. |

The Kraus House: Typical of others
in the colony, this board and batt family dwelling was erected by
communal craftsmen in 1863 - 64. A gift to the Aurora Colony Historical
Society from John R. Kraus, in whose family ownership the house has been
since 1879. This two story white frame building occupies a site next to
the Oxbarn Museum on the East being moved there from Third and Main
Streets in 1968 and is an important part of the museum setup. |

The Steinbach Log Cabin: This
pioneer style log cabin was moved from a well timbered area north of
Aurora to museum property in 1969 and dedicated Sunday the 28th of
September. It was but a temporary home for a colony family. Timbers for
this cabin were cut and laid 100 years ago. |
